 Hello,my name is Elizabeth Mathison.  I'm a Bates Technical College-trained Birth Doula certified with Doulas of North America (DONA).  I am also training to become a Childbirth Educator. As your birth doula, I'm there to support you in the way you find best.  I'm there to help you have the type of birth you want, be that medicated, unmedicated, home birth, hospital or birth center. I'm there for you. 

 

I am happy to currently be serving women at Fort Lewis and surrounding areas, including Lacey, Olympia and Tacoma. 

 

 

 

 

 
Why Hire a Doula?
 
Numerous clinical studies have found that a doula’s presence at birth:
 
     • Tends to result in shorter labors with   fewer complications 
     • Reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience 
     • Reduces the need for pitocin (a labor-inducing drug), forceps or vacuum extraction and cesareans
    • Reduces the mother’s request for pain medication and/or epidurals
